Hynix: the average DRAM price rose 9% in the fourth quarter of last year
South Korea's SK hynix, the world's second-largest memory-chip maker, has benefited from a surge in DRAM prices and continued market conditions, with quarterly earnings hitting a record high in the fourth quarter of last year, as demand for server memory continues to be strong this year. The market regulator set expectations that, although smartphone sales were not as good as expected, it could lead to a 3 per cent contraction in the price of mobile memory contracts this quarter, but the second season will restart the momentum of the move, and prices will continue to rise.
